The client
A copywriter who can sound like anyone.
Kayleigh Tanner is a freelance copywriter from Brighton. She writes for B2B, B2C and not-for-profit clients in sectors including SaaS, learning and development and AI. She is also a qualified journalist, and founded Hello Hygge, a blog about the Scandinavian idea of cosiness.
The brief
Show the work, and make the offer clear.
Kayleigh has an established client base, but she was relying on social media and a third-party portfolio site to share her work. She wanted a more professional web presence that set out her services, prices and writing samples, to bring in new clients in a competitive market.
Being a writer, she wanted to write the website copy herself. What she needed was a site that was clear, quick and easy to find in search, and simple enough to run day to day. She has plenty of marketing and website experience, so she knew exactly what she didn't want: anything complicated.
The build
A homepage that does what she does.
Kayleigh came with a clear vision, from the design to the wording. Her selling point is that she can write in anyone's voice, so the homepage shows it.
Under the line "One writer, any voice", visitors choose from four voices. Each one rewrites the same short passage about a cup of tea, and the whole page changes to match: colour, typeface, illustrations and the occasional emoji. Whimsical is bright and playful. Professional is crisp and corporate.

“I told Chris that I wanted the site design to reflect my personal USP, which is my ability to write in anyone else's voice, whether that's a thought leader, subject matter expert or even a colleague. Chris suggested a really fun interactive module that would allow people to see this in action with my own words, and I think it works brilliantly to show, not just tell, what I do!”

The voices carry through to the portfolio. Visitors can filter Kayleigh's writing samples by voice and by audience (B2B, B2C or not-for-profit), so they land on the examples closest to what they need.
In her line of work, reputation and credibility matter. Logos from the brands Kayleigh has written for, and the publications that have featured her, sit on the homepage and About page, alongside client testimonials.
The site is custom-coded, so it loads quickly on a phone. It comes with the search groundwork done: page titles and descriptions, a sitemap submitted to Google and Bing, and the structured data that search engines and AI assistants read (SEO and GEO). The domain and hosting are in Kayleigh's own name.
The result
Live in about ten days, scoring well and easy to run.
Kayleigh now has a site she can use for years to promote her services and show her portfolio. She updates her blog, portfolio, testimonials and prices herself through a simple editor, so there is nothing to wait on and no code to touch.
“I absolutely love what Chris has done with my new website. I've worked on a lot of website projects across my career, and this was by far the quickest and most painless of the lot. Chris was responsive, quick to act on feedback and nothing was too much trouble – even my silly requests like ‘Can you make it more pink?’ or ‘Can we add an alien emoji?’. I would highly recommend Sea Parrott for any freelancer or small business looking for a modern website that reflects not just what you do, but how you do it.”
